Groton - The U.S. Navy has awarded Electric Boat a third contract to repair the USS Hartford, which collided with a Navy amphibious ship in the Strait of Hormuz on March 20, bringing the cost of the repairs to $102.6 million so far.
Under the recent contract, for $65.2 million, Electric Boat will install a hull patch, bridge access trunk, sail and port retractable bow plane and perform selected maintenance work on the submarine.
The previous contracts for restoration work on the Hartford include $15.8 million awarded in May for advance planning and material procurement and $21.6 million awarded in July for off-hull fabrication of the port retractable bow plane and material procurement and off-hull fabrication of the sail
